Gengar PSA 10 Prices: Most Valuable Gengar Cards in 2026

Last updated: · 10 min read

Gengar PSA 10 graded card in a slab next to raw Gengar Pokémon cards

A gengar psa 10 can be worth anything from about $50 to well over $100,000, and the gap between a raw card and a perfect slab is bigger for Gengar than for almost any other Pokémon. This guide shows which Gengar cards are worth grading, what they sell for raw on our Gengar card price page, what PSA 10 copies sell for on public sales trackers, and how to tell if your copy has a real shot at a 10.

All raw prices below come from live MyTCGValue pages as of Oct 28, 2026 (US market estimates from TCGplayer sales). PSA 10 prices, populations and gem rates come from UltraBall's Gengar PSA 10 tracker, observed Oct 27, 2026, which uses PSA's population report and cert-linked sales. Prices move every day, so always open the card page for today's number.

How Much Is a Gengar PSA 10 Worth?

There is no single gengar psa 10 price, because Gengar has been printed on more than 70 English cards since 1999. What decides the price is the card, its age and how hard it is to grade.

Here is the big picture from UltraBall's tracker as of Oct 27, 2026:

  • PSA has graded 277,012 Gengar cards, and 100,548 of them came back a PSA 10.

  • The median Gengar PSA 10 sells for about $2,700.

  • The median PSA 10 sells for about 42 times the raw near-mint price of the same card.

  • PSA 10s range from about $50 (Mega Gengar ex 56/94, Phantasmal Flames) to about $336,000 (Gengar H9, Skyridge).

In short: a modern Gengar PSA 10 is usually a few hundred dollars, a vintage Gengar PSA 10 is often five or six figures, and the difference comes down to how few perfect copies exist.

Raw vs PSA 10: why the gap is so big

Older cards were printed on rougher card stock, cut less precisely and played with by kids. Very few survived with sharp corners, clean edges and good centering. That is why a 1999 Fossil Gengar that is a few hundred dollars raw can be worth tens of thousands in a 10, while a 2026 Mega Gengar ex that is easy to pull clean only doubles or triples in a slab. The Most Valuable Gengar Cards (Raw and PSA 10)

  • Gengar ex 108/112, EX FireRed & LeafGreen: about $1,399.99 raw, about $108,000 in PSA 10. A PSA 10 sold for $108,000 at auction on Oct 22, 2026, per UltraBall's sales record.

  • Gengar VMAX Alternate Art 271/264, Fusion Strike: about $1,027.28 raw, about $2,250 in PSA 10.

  • Gengar 11/110, Legendary Collection: about $289.99 raw for the holo and $1,799.99 for the reverse holo; UltraBall lists the PSA 10 at about $336,000.

  • Gengar 5/62, Fossil: about $537.50 raw for 1st Edition and $218.48 for Unlimited; about $90,888 (1st Edition) and $3,720 (Unlimited) in PSA 10.

The record Gengar sale

The Legendary Collection reverse holo is the Gengar benchmark. TabletopMeta reported that a PSA 10 copy sold for $408,000 at Fanatics Collect in June 2026, the highest price ever paid for a Gengar card. UltraBall counts only 20 PSA 10s of Legendary Collection 11/110, which explains the price.

Gengar Prime 94/102 (Triumphant): Price and PSA 10

Gengar Prime from HS Triumphant (2010) is one of the most searched Gengar cards, and for good reason. It is a holo Ultra Rare from the HeartGold & SoulSilver era, and it is very hard to find in clean condition.

  • Raw price: about $623.74 for a near-mint copy as of Oct 28, 2026, up from $569.44 on Sep 11, 2026 on our price history.

  • Lightly played copies: about $467.81 to $561.37 by our condition estimate.

  • PSA 9: about $5,400 (UltraBall).

  • PSA 10: about $51,000 (UltraBall), with a PSA 10 population of 160 and a gem rate of about 4.1%.

Is Gengar Prime worth grading?

Only if it is truly clean. UltraBall's PSA 10 price is more than 80 times our raw near-mint price, and even a PSA 9 is almost 9 times raw. But Prime cards often show silvering on the back edges and print lines on the holo, so most copies grade 7 to 9. Check the corners and the back edges under a bright light before you pay to grade it. You can also compare it with every card in the set on the Triumphant set page.

Note: the 30th Celebration Classic Collection reprinted Gengar Prime in 2026. Check the set symbol and number at the bottom: the original is 94/102 with the Triumphant symbol.

Fossil Gengar 5/62: The Hardest Gengar to Gem

The 1999 Fossil holo Gengar was the first English Gengar card, and it is the toughest Gengar to get in a PSA 10.

  • Raw: about $537.50 for 1st Edition and about $218.48 for Unlimited (as of Oct 28, 2026).

  • Unlimited gem rate: only 51 PSA 10s out of 14,737 graded, about 0.35% (UltraBall).

  • 1st Edition gem rate: 183 PSA 10s out of 7,907 graded, about 2.3% (UltraBall).

  • PSA 10 price: about $90,888 for 1st Edition and about $3,720 for Unlimited (UltraBall).

Why so few Fossil Gengars get a 10

Wizards of the Coast era holos often have off-center fronts, whitening on the back edges and scratches on the holo box. Fossil holos also often show print lines across the art. If your copy has even one tiny white spot on the back, expect a 7 or 8, not a 10. The non-holo version (20/62) is easier, with about a 6% gem rate.

Gengar VMAX Alt Art 271/264: Modern Gengar PSA 10

The Fusion Strike Gengar VMAX alternate art (2021) is a secret rare numbered above the set total, and it is one of the most graded Gengar cards of all time.

  • Raw: about $1,027.28 as of Oct 28, 2026, steady around $1,020 to $1,033 since September on our Fusion Strike Gengar VMAX page.

  • PSA 9: about $900. PSA 10: about $2,250 (UltraBall).

  • Population: 14,864 PSA 10s out of 28,245 graded, a gem rate of about 53%.

Should you grade a Gengar VMAX alt art?

Probably only if it is perfectly centered. Because about half of all copies come back a 10, a PSA 10 is only about 2.2 times the raw price, and a PSA 9 is worth less than a raw copy. Once you add the grading fee, shipping and risk, the profit is thin. See how much it costs to grade a Pokémon card before you decide.

The regular Gengar VMAX (157/264) is about $44.61 raw, and its PSA 10 sells for about $203 (UltraBall).

Other Gengar Cards Worth Grading

These cards have a large PSA 10 premium compared with their raw price, so a clean copy can pay off:

  • Gengar 60/162, XY BREAKthrough: about $46.25 raw, about $66,000 in PSA 10. Only 46 PSA 10s exist (UltraBall), the biggest premium of any Gengar card.

  • Gengar 35/83, Generations: about $46.81 raw, about $16,200 in PSA 10, with only 11 PSA 10s.

  • Gengar 38/111, Crimson Invasion: about $28.01 raw, about $6,000 in PSA 10.

  • Gengar 18/100, Stormfront: about $292.66 raw for the reverse holo. TabletopMeta reported a PSA 10 reverse holo sale of $156,000 in 2026.

  • Gengar ex 193/162, Temporal Forces: about $51.92 raw, about $350 in PSA 10 (40% gem rate).

  • Gengar TG06, Lost Origin Trainer Gallery: about $46.69 raw, about $645 in PSA 10 (22% gem rate).

The pattern is simple: the lower the gem rate, the bigger the reward for a true 10. Cards from 2014 to 2017 (XY and early Sun & Moon) are often overlooked and have some of the biggest gaps.

Japanese Gengar Cards

Japanese Gengar cards are popular with collectors because of their print quality and exclusive versions. Several sell for hundreds of dollars raw on MyTCGValue as of Oct 28, 2026:

Japanese cards usually have better centering and fewer print lines than English cards, so they often gem more easily. That also means Japanese PSA 10s are more common, so the premium over raw tends to be smaller.

How to Get a Gengar PSA 10: Grading Tips

Before you send any Gengar to PSA, check these four things:

  • Centering: the borders should be nearly even, left to right and top to bottom. PSA 10 allows about 55/45 on the front.

  • Corners: look for any white on the back corners. One white corner usually means a 9 at best.

  • Edges: silvering or chipping on the back edges is the most common reason vintage Gengars miss a 10.

  • Surface: tilt the card under a light and look for scratches, dents and print lines on the holo.

Also choose the right grader. PSA 10s usually sell for the most, but CGC and BGS can be cheaper or faster. Our PSA vs CGC vs BGS comparison explains which grader makes sense for which card.

When grading is not worth it

If a card has a gem rate above about 50% (like most Mega Gengar ex and Gengar VMAX cards) and you are not sure it is perfect, the math is risky. A 9 can sell for less than the raw card plus the grading fee. Grade modern Gengars only when the centering is clearly great.

How to Spot a Fake Gengar Card

High-value Gengars, especially Fossil, Legendary Collection and Gengar VMAX alt art, are often faked. Watch for:

  • Text that looks blurry, uses the wrong font or has spelling mistakes.

  • A holo pattern that looks flat, rainbow-colored across the whole card or wrong for the set.

  • A card that feels too glossy, too thin or bends too easily.

  • A light test: real cards have a dark core layer and let little light through.

  • Fake PSA slabs: always check the certificate number on PSA's website.

Our step-by-step guide on how to tell if a Pokémon card is fake walks through every check.

Where to Check Gengar Card Prices

Prices for Gengar cards change daily, and a single big sale can move a vintage card a lot. Use these tools:

  • Gengar card prices: every English and Japanese Gengar card, ranked by price and refreshed nightly.

  • Card value calculator: estimate what your card is worth based on its condition.

  • Sold listings on eBay and graded-sales trackers like UltraBall for PSA 10 prices.

Always match the exact set, number and printing (1st Edition, Unlimited, holo or reverse holo). Two Gengars with the same art can be worth very different amounts.
